SON ET LUMIÈRE

Son et lumière means literally Sound and Light.

Son et lumière is a form of night-time entertainment that is usually presented in an outdoor venue of historic significance. Son et lumière have specialised projection and lighting effects projected onto the façade of a building.  The Son et lumière is synchronized with narration and music to dramatize the history of the place. The invention of the concept of Son et lumière is credited to Paul Robert Houdin in France.  This Son et lumière medium naturally lends itself to architecture. Son et lumière uses slide or video projectors.

Architectural Projection
Architectural Projection is the art of projecting onto architecture.  Architectural projection takes the existing architecture and uses it as a projection surface.

Projection Mapping
Projection mapping is a detailed analysis of  the architecture of the building and preparation it for projection.  Projection mapping can be created for video or slide projection.

Outdoor Projection
Outdoor projection is the art of using local infrastructure as the projection surface instead of a screen.  Buildings and landscapes can be the surfaces used for outdoor projection.
