Created as a backdrop to the presenter, the massive portrait of Lord Nelson dominated the skyline for BBC Televisions ‘Great Britons’ show. 55 metres wide by 60 metres tall, the image of Britain’s greatest admiral hung above the South bank in the centre of London. The building used as a projection surface is The Shell Building. The image was used as opener and closer for the show and due to its impact led on to several other events for the same TV series. | Click on the pictures for the large version |
