ETC Ltd., have been involved with the projections for the Chepstow Festival since 1998. We are proud to have been involved with the many different shows that have been produced by this community project. The three principal productions have been, ‘Most Loyal Knight’, ‘Echoes in the Stones’, and ‘Footprints on the Sand of Time’.

Most Loyal Knight
The 80 minute ‘Most Loyal Knight’ performance was produced by local potter Ned Heywood and Chepstow Museum Curator Anne Rainsbury, staged inside the castle walls, and enjoyed by up to 9000 people, spread across three weekends in July. The show was written by Keith Johnson, directed by Nick Bamford, narrated by Patrick Romer and set to an original music score by Barrie Bignold.

Live actors, lighting, sound and the massive projections, all amalgamated in a dramatic mixed media presentation, relating the colourful stories of the castle’s past and that of Chepstow’s ‘Most Loyal Knight’ William Marshall. It was presented in classic son et lumière style, complete with pyro and fireworks, set against the awesome natural backdrop of the castle’s battlements. You literally felt the history oozing out of the walls!

Echoes in the Stones
The dramatic, charismatic, skeleton of Tintern Abbey in Monmouthshire, Wales, dating back to 1269 - was the backdrop for “Echoes In The Stones”, a mixed media performance spectacle involving large format projection, pyro, lighting, sound and a cast of over 100.

The 10-performance event which involved thousands of individuals and groups from many local communities was staged over 3 weekends and enjoyed by up to 1400 people a night. It was produced by local potter Ned Heywood and Anne Rainsbury, curator of Chepstow Museum, and directed by TV and theatre director Nick Bamford.

Footprints on the Sand of Time
E\T\C brought their large format projection magic to the ancient ruins of Caldicot Castle in Monmouthshire, for a three weekend son et lumière production, “Footprints On The Sands of Time”, part of the 2004 Chepstow Festival.

Projection, lighting sound, pyrotechnics and over 100 actors combined in a highly memorable show directed by Nick Bamford, produced by Ned Heywood and Anne Rainsbury.

The projection was achieved using three PIGI 6Kw projectors with double rotating scrollers, located on a specially built platform at the rear of the seating stands. The throw distance was over 100 metres. Two projectors projected onto a special arched screen to the left, and the other beamed onto the castle keep on the right.
