E\T\C supplied stunning large format projections for the launch of a new son et lumière concept, “The Future’s Bright”, staged in the royal town of Caernarfon in Gwynedd, North Wales.
Three PIGI 6 Kw projectors complete with double rotating scrollers were used to project giant images onto the walls of Caernarfon’s famous castle.
“The Future’s Bright” is the brainchild of Jon Thirsk, a locally based graphic designer who’s keen to stimulate tourism, business and interest in this historic and picturesque town. He and other interested parties formed the not-for-profit organisation, Y Grael Cyf (The Grail), to stage the initial pilot event. Thirsk approached E\T\C’s Ross Ashton to help realise the idea on the visual front.
The projection formed the visual centrepiece, and other attractions included a children’s dry skating rink, fire dancers, jugglers, craft stalls, music, etc.
Staging the ‘pilot’ was intended to enthuse those in the local tourist industry and council, and vibe up people and businesses generally in the town and surrounding areas. The ultimate aim is to encourage investment for producing a show 2 or 3 times a year.
Thirsk says, “Projection was the obvious way to make a lasting, high-impact impression on a diverse audience. We also wanted something that was memorable for more than just its spectacle, something with an educative worth that focuses on local interests, and which can be executed in an invigorating and energising way”. | Click on the pictures for the large version |
